The Morris County Public Safety Training Academy has been approved
by the New Jersey Police Training Commission to participate in the program
entitled ALTERNATE ROUTE BASIC COURSE FOR POLICE OFFICERS.
This program is designed to give individuals interested in becoming police
officers the opportunity to attend a police training academy, at their own
expense, prior to being hired by a police department.
Anyone who meets the following requirements is eligible for consideration
for the ALTERNATE ROUTE BASIC COURSE FOR POLICE OFFICERS.
| Registration for the July 2009 and January 2010 Basic Police Classes
MARK YOUR CALENDARS NOW! Interested candidates MUST register in person for the exam between the hours of 9:00 A.M. and 3:30 P.M., Monday through Friday, November 17, 2008 through January 9, 2009 at the Academy. At the time of registration, candidates must show two (2) proofs of residency and pay a $75.00 non-refundable registration fee. The fee must be in cash or money order only and payable to the MORRIS COUNTY FIRE FIGHTERS AND POLICE TRAINING ACADEMY.

The written examination will be held Wednesday, January 14, 2009 at 5:00 P.M. at the Morris County Public Safety Training Academy 500 West Hanover Avenue, Parsippany, New Jersey. |

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS |

| AGE | Candidates must be at least 18 years of age and no older than 35 by the completion of the program. | |
| EDUCATION | Candidates must have completed a minimum of 60 college credits or 2 years of active military service or a combination of the two. must bring a copy of DD214 as proof of military service. | |
| RESIDENCY | Candidates must be U.S. citizens and residents of Morris, Sussex or Warren Counties. | |
| BACKGROUND | Candidates must be of good moral character, and not have been convicted of any criminal offense involving moral turpitude. | |
| MEDICAL | Candidates must be sound in body and of good health sufficient to participate in the physical training program. | |
SELECTION CRITERIA
The selection process consists of a written examination, physical agility test, comprehensive background investigation, oral interviews, medical and psychological examinations and drug testing through urinalysis.
