he staff of the Morris County Public Safety Training Academy, together with the Morris County Police Chiefs Association is pleased to present the 2008 Police Training Catalog. We continue to offer the best training for the law enforcement community as well as other disciplines.
ue to the number and variety of courses being offered it would be too numerous to detail all that is available. Please take some time to peruse the entire catalog to find classes of interest to you and your department. Many of our normal classes continue to be offered as well as many new and timely topics that had been added.
s a public service we are including Atlantic Health's winter and fall EMT courses as well as two (2) five-week daytime Emergency Medical Technician-Basic courses and four additional courses in this publication.
wo Basic Police Classes will be held in 2008, the dates of which are included in this catalog. We have experienced a significant increase in the number of persons attending our basic classes. This is directly attributable to the excellent training that the recruits received at this Academy. Also, to better prepare our police recruits for what they can expect upon graduation, each recruit will be issued a bullet proof vest to wear during the twenty-two weeks of training. The vest will be returned at the conclusion of the Basic Police Course and is issued not for ballistic coverage, but rather for the recruit to experience the feel of wearing body armor. Therefore, uniform shirts for basic recruits should be tailored to fit over the vest.
n on-line course registration program will be added to our scheduling program. We anticipate the registration program will be up and running by the beginning of January.
n presenting this catalog, we have attempted to address current issues and trends occurring in the law enforcement community. As always, we welcome your input into any other courses that could be offered to increase the safety and efficiency of those who serve the community. We are confident that the training offered by the Morris County Public Safety Training Academy will fulfill your department's training needs.
sincere thank you is extended to all of the Morris County Police Chiefs, the County Prosecutor and the Morris County Sheriff for their continued support and cooperation.
